Why I Built Sewrio: The Pattern Making Problem Nobody Was Solving
I am a founder who fell in love with fashion. Not the kind of love that leads you to buy more clothes, but the kind that makes you want to understand how they are made, why they fit the way they do, and why creating them has always been so unnecessarily complicated.
When I started exploring fashion design seriously, I ran into the same wall every independent designer hits. To create a garment from a photo, you need pattern making software that costs thousands of dollars per year. You need years of technical training just to open the file. And even then, drafting a single sewing pattern takes the better part of a working day.
I kept asking the same question. Why is this so hard?
The Gap Nobody Was Filling
The fashion industry has two extremes. On one side, enterprise-level CAD tools built for large manufacturers with dedicated technical teams. On the other side, hand-drawn patterns and guesswork. There was nothing in between for the independent designer, the small atelier, the fashion student, or the person who simply wants to recreate a dress they saw in a magazine.
68% of women do not fit standard size charts. Yet the tools available for creating custom sewing patterns — dress patterns, skirt patterns, blouse patterns, jumpsuit patterns — were built for a world that assumes everyone is the same size and has the same technical background.
That is the problem Sewrio exists to solve.
What Sewrio Does Differently
Sewrio is an AI-powered sewing pattern generator. You upload a photo of any garment — a dress, a skirt, a blouse, a coat, a jumpsuit — and our AI analyzes the silhouette, structure and proportions. Within seconds, you have a complete set of production-ready digital sewing patterns, calibrated to exact measurements, exported as PDF or SVG and ready to cut.
No CAD software. No pattern making experience. No barrier between your vision and the garment you want to create.
We are not building another tool for the fashion industry elite. We are building the tool that should have existed ten years ago — one that makes professional pattern making accessible to every designer, every atelier, every maker, regardless of their technical background or budget.
Who This Is For
Sewrio is for the independent fashion designer working from a studio who cannot afford enterprise software. It is for the small clothing brand trying to move from idea to sample without a six-figure production budget. It is for the tailor who has spent twenty years drafting patterns by hand and is ready for a faster way. It is for the fashion student who wants to learn by making, not by reading manuals.
It is for anyone who has ever looked at a dress pattern, a skirt pattern, a blouse pattern or any sewing pattern and thought — there has to be a better way.
There is now.
The Road Ahead
We are at the beginning. Our AI currently handles dress patterns, skirt patterns, blouse patterns, jumpsuit patterns and coat patterns with growing accuracy. We are improving every week, pushed forward by the designers and makers who have already joined our waitlist and are waiting to create.
If you have ever wanted to generate a sewing pattern from a photo, create a custom dress pattern in your size, or simply make the garment you imagined without the technical barriers that have always stood in the way — Sewrio was built for you.
